Bonsai Beauty
A bit later than planned is this post - the outdoors was calling me and I vacated the craft room. I have spent a lot of time in here recently as I have made lots and lots of cards for the village hall down the road and folks have been helping themselves so not having to go to the shops. In return I have been given eggs and other produce from neighbours and friends - great barter systems in place and a lovely atmosphere around the place despite these very strange times.
I made this card using mosaic madness stamp set and the lovely label punch that co-ordinates with it. The tree somehow stamps out as if I have used two colours on the trunk and on the leaves - whereas I only used one colour green and one colour brown - great effect achieved by the stamps themselves!! I also stamped a lot of the background images - cutting them out with circle punches to make a layered effect on the card. A pretty flower embellishment that comes with the suite sets the card off . Im trying to make more use of designer series paper as we come to the end of the current catalogue this will go and be replaced by a whole new set of designer series papers. I love these - they have a plastic surface making the mosaic very shiny like tiles. Tomorrow I will post two other cards I made mainly using just the paper which has lovely images on it that can be cut out.
Here is a close-up of that mosaic effect and the laying of the background pieces.
I hope you are safe and well and enjoying some of the lovely weather.
Tomorrow us demonstrators get to sneaky peek the new catalogue and the list of retired products will be announced (i.e. those that will not carry over to the new catalogue) There usually then follows somewhat a bun fight for what is left so if you haven't already ordered that stamp set or paper pack you had set your sights on now is the time because around 8pm tomorrow the best stuff tends to get swooped up into someone else basket or even worse the shop pages fall over with the strain!! So go check it out today - very rarely stamp sets are offered at a discount because they tend to be donated to charity - punches and dies do get onto the clearance rack if they are not sold out and designer series paper and the retiring in colour cardstock, ink pads and pens get snaffled rather fast - so get in your order asap if you think you cant live without something.
