Kit Collection Showcase - Sentimental Rose Kit and June's Kit Sale Offer

I am writing to you from a slightly rainy North Devon today. Following a HUGE amount of downtime! (I do apologise for the inconsistency.) 8 weeks ago I had a hip replacement operation and I was just about to get some freedom and get out and drive again when I caught covid which kept me in bed for a few days and indoors isolating for a few more. Prior to that I was preparing for my daughter, husband, baby and dog to come and live with us which required some house decluttering, decorating and building of a cabin in the garden. All is well now. My craft room (now a nursery) has been moved into my bedroom and it lots of fun having such a busy house. Lots of physio is underway to help me to get out and walk my now two dogs.

 KITS

This month Stampin' Up have a special offer on kits. You can buy one and get one half price! This is great news for beginner crafters and seasoned crafters alike. I personally love making kits especially when I have lost my crafting mojo and they are handy if you don’t want to have too many supplies on the table or if going away somewhere nice. The kits are fantastic for a new card maker as they help build up your supplies of stamp sets and inks and there are some great accompanying videos as well as instructions in the box on how to put them together. I will be showcasing several of the kits during June on my Instagram, this blog and You Tube channel.

Once you have used all of the consumables in the kit, there are still opportunities, if you order a few additional supplies, to use the ink and stamps in the kit and create lots more projects. I will also show you how you can do this in June with several different kits.

SENTIMENTAL ROSE* CARD KIT (ENGLISH)

To start off my favourite kit at the moment is this one pictured called Sentimental Rose Card Kit (product number 156972) £18.00.

SENTIMENTAL ROSE* CARD KIT (ENGLISH)

The kit comes in a kraft box and contains all the supplies you need to make 9 notecards (3 each of 3 different designs) It includes a pretty stamp set (see below image) and a block to mount your stamps to. It also includes a one inch grey granite ink pad. All of these items can be used far beyond the time when the card fronts and pieces have all been used up! If that wasn’t enough there is also an acetate box to decorate to keep all of the cards in when they are completed.

At the bottom of this blog post are some ideas for additional cards and a gift holder that you can make with the stamp set in the kit by adding a couple of extra products to your order. I used Classic Assortment Stampin Spots (8 different coloured baby ink pads (153183 £23.00) and pack of 20 notecards and envelopes. (Available in white 159232 or cream 144236 £6.75 a pack). So pop two kits into you basket and one will be half price! If you add 4 kits 2 will be half price and so on.

The Spring / summer mini catalogue retires at the end of this month and so there are some last chance products on the online shop some at discounted prices. Some bundles are not retiring but will not be at their discounted price in the future. Check the online shop for what is still available HERE.

You Tube Channel

I will be chatting weekly on my You Tube channel starting from this month. The format will be a podcast with me showing the projects that I am working on including knitting, sewing and paper crafting  as well as news and product spotlights. There are also tutorials and techniques on there. So get a cup of tea and watch while you are crafting! You can find me on You Tube HERE

Instagram

I probably post the most on my Instagram account as it is so easy just to click on a photo and upload it. You can find me on Instagram by searching ‘Joanne Penney’ or ‘craftyjop’

Facebook

I am not currently on Facebook but this might change in the future, as its getting harder to resist as there are a few groups I belong to that operate mainly on there. Also it will give me a place to advertise my retired and used products more easily than Instagram and the blog. Once I set it up I will let you know!

Ideas for using the Sentimental Rose Kit - using  additional

 products

I used a note card for this card and stamped the first rose in real red ink (using the ink spot) onto the bottom right hand side of the card and then stamped another rose onto a post it note.

Cut around the post it note close the the lines and stick it over the red stamped image on the card.

Stamp the purple rose image slightly overlapping. When you pull the post it note away you have two images one looks as if it is behind the other - this is a technique called masking.

Align the post it note again over the image and stamp the leaves in green ink.

Stamp the greeting onto the card in grey ink.

Using the masking technique again, stamp the rose image all over the note card base. You may need two or three post it notes to cover the already stamped roses.

I used real red ink spot.

Stamp 'Thank You' onto a small piece of spare card and cut with scissors into a square. Use the red ink to rub along the edge of the white card to make a red edge.

TIP: When masking allow the ink to dry thoroughly on the post it not and when it is stamped onto the card otherwise it can get messy!

To make this shaped card, stamp the three roses around the edge first - Start at the bottom right hand edge of the note card and worked your way up to the top left hand edge.

Overlap the stamping using the masking technique.

Cut around the edge of the card using scissors.

Use the cut off white card to stamp a sentiment and cut it into a close rectangle.

Ink using the edge of the ink spot around the sentiment to make a red border. Attach with a dimensional (sticky foam hexagon) - there will be some of these left in the kit or you can order more in my shop.

Stamp leaves on the inside edge of the note card.

This is a little gift holder and I have used it to carry a packet of seeds for a gardening friend, but you could equally put a gift card into it.

Stamp and cut out the note card as the card above and then glue the bottom edges of the card together to make the pocket.

Make the tag by stating onto spare card with one of the sentiments from the set cut out and edge with an in spot.

I cut mine to look like a seed marker.
