Light the Candles Card Kit Alternatives - plus link to Podcast

Hello everyone, As part of my card Kit series this month I am showing how you can make additional cards using the kits after you have finished making the cards actually in the kit to make further cards with a minimum of additional supplies. This post I am featuring the Light the Candles card kit which is £18.00 and has enough supplies in it to make 8 full sized fabulously sparkly cards 4 each of two different designs.
The photo below shows the second design.
You can watch the whole process on my You Tube podcast this week. The podcast includes my crafting catch up at the beginning, then at the end of the video is how to use the kit and a few additional supplies to complete these additional cards. Or see below for written instructions and photographs.

The stamp set that comes in this kit has 3 tiny images, two 'flames' or splash shapes and some 'sprinkles' to bring your cake to life! The kit also comes with an ink spot in coastal cabana and a block to mount your stamps. Here is a photo of the images and greetings stamped out. I particularly like these Birthday themed greeting and the longer ones can be curved if you want them to look curved.
The fronts of the kit cards constructed using a cutout piece mounted on top of a glittery piece using foam strips to give it a 3D effect. For my additional ideas I used one each of the cutout pieces - the cake and the candles -and turned them to the back side and used them as stencils.
To make an alternative cake card you can place the stencil down onto some white card or onto the front of a notecard.
Tape the edges of the stencil with washing tape or repositionable tape to keep it in place and also to stop the ink being transferred around the edges of the stencil.
Rub the blender brush across the ink pad to take up the ink and using circular motion ink one rthe top of the stencil.
When you take the stencil away you are left with the cake image. I also inked around the edges of the card with the blender brush.
Stamp the candle 'flame' using yellow ink(purchase 8 ink spots as extra supplies to obtain a fabulous colour choice) and add a gem from the kit. Stamp 'Birthday Wishes using the stamp set onto circle piece of card left over in the kit. I cut up 2 of the cards from my kit leaving 6 to do as the kit intended and two to cut up and use on additional cards but you could use any paper in your stash.

The second card I made below was using the candle piece and stencilling as above to achieve an image on white cardstock.
You can stamp the flame image in yellow ink at the top of each candle and add gems from the kit or purchase further rhinestones or gems from my shop.
I utilised additional pieces of card from the items in the kit.
The third card below I utilised just three of the candle images on the 'stencilled' piece and stencilled as before. I inked around the edges of the card using a pink ink spot and around the sentiment using a blue ink spot.
The background is made by stamping the sprinkle image in pink, the largest flame stamp in yellow and the small flame in blue randomly across a larger piece of card. Be sure to stamp some off the edges to balance the look!
ALL kits are buy one get one free in June 2022 and in addition to this on Tuesday 21st June 2022 there is FREE postage and packing on all orders over £60! So if you are ordering using my online shop please take advantage of this offer and save some dosh!
Some useful and featured supplies also available in my shop to make the additional cards are linked below.
I had a little splurge in my own Stampin' Up shop and bought another kit called 'You are my Anchor'. It arrived while I was sitting outside in the garden making the most of the lovely sunshine we have been having lately. The garden was the perfect place to sit with a boxed kit. All the supplies were in the box and I just needed a pair of scissors.
See my crazy You Tube video on how I got along and to check out the kit! There are lots of shadows, crow noise and my i- phone overheated in the middle of filming and I had to wait for it to cool off to carry on filming but its all been joined together again ! (Kind of??!!)
The kit makes 10 small square cards 5 designs two of each and 4 very sturdy gift boxes. I only bought it for the stamp set though which I LOVE! I also love the rope like twine and there are lots of extra pieces so tonnes of ideas in my head regarding how to feature this kit next on the blog in my series of 'what to do with the extra bits once the items in the kit have been made.' I will be featuring this soon but in the meantime the link to box opening and making the kit cards in the garden - is HERE.
Another item I bought - mainly for scrapbooking is the Alphabest stamp set with the matching best label punch. Great for putting your own words and numbers onto your projects and the punch is a very cute size just big enough for one letter or number. There are also some background pieces too. I will be using this in my next scrapbooking project along with the pretty 12 x12 Happy Forest Friends designer Series Papers. I will let you know once this is completed. You can also see the papers in close up as I feature them on my Podcast this week - see the link above. Just because I was itching to use it though I quickly came up with the idea that I could make a little something to help me with my diet (recently started) to ration my chocolate treats - see the photo below where I have used the numbers for numbering the days I can eat the Crunchies and the letters to label my box. The possibilities are , as they say, 'endless' !!
I will leave you with that Friday feeling!! (even though it is a monday). I am really enjoying doing my podcasts and getting back to blogging again and I hope you like them too. The podcastish You Tubes  are a bit rubbish at the moment but I'm hoping they will improve with experience.
Thank you for popping in
Love Jo P x
