Hippest Hippos stamp set and Hippos Dies - Sale- A- Bration Freebies
Yea! There is a new Winter catalogue out today and Sale-a-bration has begun and will be with you for the next two months. This means lots of lovely new things to try and lots of Freebies when you spend £45.00 or £90.00. There are no limits on how many Sale-a-bration Free gifts you can have subject to availability. This Hippo stamp set and dies have been very popular with Demonstrators like me who have been able to order everything a month early in order to prepare some samples for when the promotion begins.
This Stamp set is Free when you spend £45.00. The dies are also free when you spend £45.00 The dies are adorable and apart from dies to cut out each of the 3 hippos in the stamp set there are additional dies (some with scored details) to dress up you Hippos! There is even a propeller for the little boat. (I wasn't sure what this one was to start with I thought it was a wonky flower!)
I made 5 cards one in each of the new in-colours and I continued to use the In-colour card when cutting out the die cuts. The stamp set has some hippo related greetings but for the card above I sued a stamp from the Light the Candles kit. You will have seen me using this kit a lot in previous blog post. I stamped the hippos with black memento ink and coloured all of the hippos with a Basic Grey watercolour pencil. I coloured the nose and tummy in very lightly and went darker on the rest of the body and then I used a blender pen to spread the coloured pencil evenly.
I really like the ballerina, it reminds me of a crochet pattern for a toy by TOFT where you could also crochet the ballerina skirt and shoes on amigurumi hippo. I have the pattern and the wool but I have not started making it yet! I have had it about 5 years waiting in the project pile!!
The card above I used the waves die to cut two line of waves from the base card in Starry Sky colour. Then I could poke the hippos through and glue them behind and then finally trim off the excess. The splashes are a bit fiddly to glue on, try using a spot of Tombow glue and some tweezers.
The die set even have some hearts and flowers which also make great accents and can be used for all sorts of projects.
I have just released another Podcast today and I show and talk about these cards in that. (as well as other projects)
The link to my You Tube Channel is HERE.
I also chat and talk about another Sale-a-bration Free stamp set called Stylish Sketches, which is a complete contrast to the above cartoon fun hippos. It is a beautifully sketched outline stamp.
I also show how I used pastels to colour in the stamp at the end of the video.
I used memento ink and soft pastels with a wink of stella which gives a lovely glittery finish.
Also on the video I show some additional alternative cards I made and some experimenting I did using the Light the Candles Kit. Although the buy one get one half price offer has now finished the kits still provide excellent value for money and this kit is £18.00 and my previous blog post shows how to stretch the kit even further. Since the arrival of a recent order I made I have bought some Shimmery White Embossing paste and using the spatula that can also be purchased from me I tried embossing through the candles stencil. I also experimented with using versa mark ink and embossing with embossing powder and a heat gun using the stencil and last but not least using the blending brushes and 3 different in-colour inks and blending using the stencil - see the following photographs for the results!
Blending Brushes
Embossing paste
Heat embossing
I have really had a crafty week using these two Sale-a-bration stamp sets and continuing using the Light the Candles card kit. Why not get a kit and some additional supplies and if your order comes to £45.00 you can select some Sale-a-bration goodies of your own.
