Man - mechanic Monday!

Sometimes its hard to make more masculine cards. This paper from Stampin Up and cute charms is making this task so easy! I am also thinking of making myself some cute earrings with the spanners! This paper would make a great card to congratulate someone from passing their driving test also! I didn't go for the matching stamp set and framelits for this particular suite because the stack of 6x6 inch papers have all the images I need to make some cards all by themselves! I have cut the motorbike images with scissors and the wheels and dials with circle punches to make this card. I took inspiration to make the boing! - out middle of this card from a lady called Rubyhearted mom who used butterflies for the middle of a card. I cut out 7 wheels from one of the papers and just glued the ends of the papers together after folding them in half. Then attach to each side of the fold in the middle of the card. Be careful how many you use, originally I had a whole length of wheels a...

New Spring time Trends

Image
I love magazines, its so different to looking at things on-line. I can hold it in my hands and cosy down with a cup of tea on the sofa. The colours are somehow better, it is easier to read. I have recently bought a selection of magazines some I buy occasionally and some are my regulars. I always buy Vogue in January to get a fashion forecast but this year I missed it so I bought February which has not disappointed! It has featured some of the fashion trends for the year and I love the colours in the jacket on the front cover. I matched them with some Stampin Up colours to get a fresh new springtime look on my cards. How is this for a colour combination: Mint macaron, smoke slate (although I would probably go for silver), lovely lipstick and pacific point. I could have also gone for a lighter blue, with melon mambo (but some of my inks are on display in my local library at the moment!) Wouldn't it be easy if there was just one trend, but there are loads. The up side is t...

Cake catastrophe - or not?

Image
This little cake builder punch from Stampin' Up's Spring Summer catalogue has literally SOLD OUT!! Along with the butterfly duo punch from my January make and take in a box. Although this is a bit of a shame, the good news is that the punches will carry over into the new main catalogue offering which releases on June the 1st and they may also be available again near the end of March and so they can still be purchased. What is not clear is whether the stamp sets that go with them will also carry over? However the stamp sets can still be purchased now from me and I can order the punch for you when it comes in and what is more I can offer you the added bonus of I will honour the bundle price for you if you want it. It is likely that Stampin' Up may bring in another stamp set to complement the punch but who knows? The bundle price is £29.50 In the meantime here are some cards I made for my open day back in the days when the punches were not out of stock! I hav...

Pretty things using vellum

Image
I made this long box using the Floral romance speciality paper in the Spring /Summer 2019 catalogue. I used my Stampin trimmer which has a scoring blade to score the sides of the vellum box, these are 7cm wide and if you are using the 12x12 vellum paper - it is 30cm and so you have 2cm left over for the overlap. I recommend using double side tape to attach the box as PVA types of glue may slip about a bit on the vellum. Then the bottom and lid of the box are made using the same measurements except you stick the bottom on and leave the lid so you can open the box!. For this you need a square piece of card that is 13cm x 13cm and you score around all four sides at 3cm. Then fold the score lines and cut into the side pieces to make a flat that you can glue back to make the sides . For the frill on top of the box I folded a strip of paper that was 30cm long and 8cm wide in half lengthways and the cut from the folded edge towards the raw edge just stopping short in small increments aro...

Romance is in the Air

If you have ordered or received my January Big Shot box of goodies to go along with the Wonderful Romance bundle then your wait for instructions for the projects is now over! In todays blog I am going to show the 3 cards and bookmark projects that you have the additional bits and pieces of card to make in your box and tomorrow's blog I am going to show some other projects that I made using this wonderful bundle and the speciality designer series paper and seals and flower embellishments that are also in this Suite. The whole suite along with the embossing folder and cardstock pack is on pages 10 to 11 of the 2019 Spring Summer catalogue. Before I go into details of the three cards and bookmark I would like to divulge my creative process when making these so you too can enjoy using this method: When I received this stamp set I first took some whisper white card and stamped all of the images in the stamp set and some images more than once so I had a whole A4 sheet of imag...

January punch box samples - how to

Image
If you ordered these already - lucky you because they are so popular they have gone out of stock, we are expecting them back in March however. For those who purchased the bundle from me here is the tutorial that goes with the box! This card is made by folding a card base in daffodil yellow cardstock. Make a back ground by cutting some of the Gingham Gala paper slightly narrower than the cardstock and then carefully tear along the bottom so there is room to stamp the sentiment from the stamp set. Before you glue the gingham paper to the card base tie some of the organza ribbon around the bottom - tip - put a small glue dot at the back to keep it in place. When you are stamping the butterflies it really helps to do a large batch in one go and then you can adhere them to all of your projects. Stamp the butterfly duo in memento black ink and then using inks to match your papers (I used daffodil delight, lemon lime twist and grapefruit grove) Stamp the background colours using ...

Joppy goes Blog Hoppy

Image
Hello, I love that I can make a rhythm out of joppy and hoppy - its always a struggle thinking of a blog title! Welcome to anyone who has not visited my blog before, I have a fairly new blog, have not participated in the blog hop before and so its especially great to see you! I had a lovely open house last Saturday and invited some of my crafting friends to come and look at what the new Spring/Summer catalogue has to offer and I made some cards to display and the cards I have put up for the blog hop today I made with a stamp set featured on page 44. called Best Catch and co-ordinating Catch of the day thinlits dies. I haven't seen very much on the Internet or on Pinterest anywhere made with this set so I am especially pleased to show you this great set. There is one very special man in my life to whom I recently became engaged and he loves fishing so I thought this set would come in handy. Also he reliably informs me that the fish looked rather like salmon and tha...
